Hello, I’d like to share our first lengthy road trip in our Toyota Tundra. We always plan our trip well in advance because my husband, my two wonderful children, and I all love to travel. This time, we decided on the spur of the moment to drive from Pune to Bangalore.
My husband and I were eager and concerned about our ability to make it. I believed that writing in-depth about our trip would be helpful to many others who planned to travel, especially those who were doing it for the first time. Although we consulted various evaluations, we couldn’t gather 100% of the specifics. I’ve included a detailed report regarding the toll booths and the required payment at the end of this report.
Pune to Kolhapur
We set out on May 12 at 6.30 a.m. because we wanted to beat the morning rush hour, which begins at 7.30. Up till Satara, there were several tourist buses and trucks on the road. At 8 a.m., we made a stop at the Hotel Abhiruchi in the Satara area for breakfast. We restarted at 8.30. The road quality was satisfactory, but you must drive carefully because there are a lot of trucks, two-wheelers, and pedestrians crossing, especially close to Satara. wanted to explore Kolhapur a little.
We reserved a room at the Chandralok Suite in Kolhapur, but it fell short of our expectations and was simply OK. Since it was the busiest time of year, there were no other rooms available when we tried to reserve a hotel near the highway leading to Bangalore.
Our hotel resembled a bed and breakfast. I had a different impression about this room when I read the advertisement and review on booking.com. We were unable to sleep because the bedroom’s A/C was malfunctioning as the afternoon started off extremely poorly. Because there was no bunk bed for the kids, according to their advertisement, my husband was forced to make due with sleeping on the sofa in the living room.
The room was about $3900 per day, but I didn’t think the amenities were worth the price. The restrooms and kitchen could have used some organisation. We visited the well-known Laxmi temple in the late afternoon about 4 o’clock. The weather was perfect. In contrast to pune, where we hired local transportation (autos), I found Kolhapur’s auto drivers to be quite kind and the prices to be reasonable. The temple was pretty crowded, but we were able to get a darshan within an hour. I simply took pleasure in the market’s abundance of lotus and lily blooms outside the shrine. After the oppressive heat in the afternoons, we relished the rain.
Kolhapur to Bangalore
The following morning, at precisely 5 a.m., we left for Bangalore. I’ll miss you, Chandralok Suite! When we arrived at the highway, we promptly filled our gas tank to the top. My husband could easily drive at 100 to 120 km/h on this fantastic, smooth route because there was little traffic at this hour.
If we don’t find this restaurant, you can find Ramya Residency in another 2 km, but we didn’t stop there, so we don’t know how the restaurant is. After that, we discovered two or three additional restaurants close to Hubli, but we made no effort to stop. On the way, we came across a couple coffee shops. From Hubli to Dharwad, there is just one lane, so the speed drops to 60 km/h because we couldn’t pass the trucks and the road wasn’t particularly smooth.
14 kilometres from Hubli, on your left, you will see a Gomateshwara temple. Keep it secure since the Hubli-Dharwad bypass toll bill needs to be displayed on the other side. We arrived in Chitradurga, the city of forts, about 10.30. Enjoy the view of the Himalayas. We thoroughly loved the drive because the weather was great.
We stopped for lunch in Tumkur around 1:00. Although there were numerous Kamat Upachar along the way, we decided to pause close to Tumkur. This Kamat appeared immediately after the tumkur toll. The lunch was fantastic. Additionally, they offer traditional banana leaf servings. The food was good, and the quality was excellent. After spending some time at this eatery, we departed for Bangalore around 2:00 p.m. We arrived at the BEL Circle Road turn around 2:30, and since we were going to the new Bel Road, there wasn’t much traffic there. We were there by 3 p.m.
After all of the stops, it took us a total of 10 hours to get from Kolhapur to Bangalore.
Road trip from Pune to Lonavala
One of the most well-known and stunning destinations for a road trip from Pune is Lonavala, especially when combined with the magnificent Khandala hill station. You can stay peaceful and relaxed at a number of historical locations and rich topographical areas. The surrounding green hills are the ideal place to go for a leisurely stroll and unwind in the presence of nature. Don’t forget to check out the ancient Karla, Bhaja, and Bedsa caves as well.
Pune to Mahabaleshwar Road Trip
One of the most stunning places on earth, Mahabaleshwar touches your spirit with its forests, valleys, peaks, waterfalls, and deep lakes. It is one of the Western Ghats’ most blessed locations. The antique sunset point is among the best things to not miss here, in addition to other places and activities. Beautiful and enjoyable, the view wonderful. Pune to Alibag Road Trip
You should include Alibaug on your list of potential destinations for your next road trip in India if you intend to travel and stay for a while. The area includes some tranquil sea-facing bungalows and luscious green gardens where you can stop by and take in the fresh air. To provide its visitors with some fresh juice and thinly sliced fruit slices, the area is covered in some exquisite mango and coconut gardens. There are also some historic sites, temples, and forts from the middle ages to visit and learn about here. One of our favourite places to visit on a road trip from Pune is this.
Pune to Matheran Road Trip
Following Lonavala in proximity, Matheran is a well-known destination for road trips from Pune. Choose this if you’re seeking for quick, safe road excursions from Pune. The area is only a small community with few well-established landmarks. Matheran is one of the best destinations to visit in order to experience the actual spirit of amazing India because it is rich in culture and customs. You can photograph and take in various panoramic views and sites along the way, and these will undoubtedly form one of the most beautiful backdrops for your photo shoot. It is a location where you may take in the hilly vistas and some eco-aware time.
Pune to Mulshi Road Trip
Multi may, in fact, be the perfect location for bikers and bachelor road excursions. The area is less crowded and less well-known as a tourist destination. The Mulshi dam across the Muslhi river, which creates some stunning scenery during the day, is what makes the location famous. Due to the abundance of nearby cafes and tea shops, you may also have some hot tea and snacks while travelling.
Pune to Lavasa Road Trip
Lavasa is a lovely city with parallel streets, terraced homes with open street windows, and flamboyant wooden architecture all over the place. It has a lot in common with the Italian city of Portofino. This is the place to be if you want to enjoy some opulent Italian architecture. To experience the nice weather and tranquilly all around you, you can also engage in water sports and bike across the Mathura River. The area also has some amazing restaurants serving western food to pamper you.
Return to Pune
Following a three-day stay in Bangalore, we headed back to Pune. Once more, we left early at 5 a.m. from New Bel Road in order to cross Tumkur before the morning rush hour began. This portion of the trip was rather dry, and we struggled to locate a decent breakfast establishment. There were numerous coffee shops, but we were unable to locate any establishments that served a great breakfast.

By 1 p.m., travelling at a pace of between 100 and 120 km/h, we had arrived close to Kolhapur, where we finally discovered the excellent Smile Stone Restaurant. After that, there were other restaurants till you reached Pune, but because of the severe traffic, numerous ongoing road construction projects, and the merging of local and highway traffic, it took us more than 4 hours to go the 240 km from Kolapur to Pune. We arrived at our Pune destination at 6:20 p.m. I’d like to recommend that, if one has the time, they attempt the roads. We had a great time on this vacation and found it to be extremely memorable.
This is what we had to say about Bengaluru’s garden city. I hope you enjoyed reading it, and please share any experiences you may have.
