Have you noticed that your posts have less reach? It is possible that you have committed an infraction and Instagram has banned your account.
Instagram, like all social networks, has rules of use. To ensure that the profiles of this social network do not violate them, there is the shadowban algorithm. To know more rules of Instagram check out easy trivia questions and answer websites
In this post, we are going to see how you can check if your account has been banned and what you must do to avoid it or to eliminate it.
What is Instagram Shadowban?
Shadowban is an Instagram algorithm that penalizes accounts that have performed some actions not allowed by this social network. It could be considered as a “fine” that Instagram imposes on profiles that do not meet established standards.
But what exactly happens if your account is banned or fined?
- When you use a hashtag, your content will not be displayed along with other content with the same tag, so they will not find you through them.
- Your reach will be limited, so only some of your followers will be able to see the content you share, the interactions in your posts will decrease and your follower growth will be less.
- You may not be able to follow or stop following more users, like or comment.
How to avoid an Instagram Shadowban?
There are some practices that are not liked by Instagram and that we will see below. If you avoid committing them, you will prevent the algorithm from “fine” your profile.
Don’t abuse hashtags:
Up to 30 hashtags can be included in each post, but the reality is that they can ban your account if you use more than 15.
This is because many accounts are limited to copying a list of hashtags, often provided by applications, with the intention of giving the widest possible distribution to their content.
Don’t always use the same hashtags:
If you always use the same hashtags in your posts, the Instagram algorithm could ban your account by SPAM.
Don’t use banned hashtags:
There are some hashtags that are prohibited, so if you use them, your account may be banned. Most of these hashtags are words with sexual connotations or that incite some diseases such as anorexia or bulimia.
Be careful with the exchange of likes and comments:
There are many groups or communities that support each other to like or write comments on their publications, thus giving them greater reach.
You must be very careful if you are in one of these groups since if the Instagram algorithm detects that there may be an exchange between two or more accounts, they can ban those accounts.
Avoid automation bots:
There are several bots in which you can automate some actions such as following accounts, stopping following accounts, liking or leaving comments.
If the Instagram algorithm detects that the limits of the previous point are being exceeded, that the same comments are always being written or that a bot is being used, they can ban your account.
Beware of third-party applications:
There are many third-party applications that are not allowed by Instagram since they consider that they violate its rules. If you use one of them, they could ban your account until you delete it.
But followers don’t buy followers:
This is a very common practice to increase followers quickly. I totally discourage it , since tey only serve to increase the ego (those followers are not real, so they will not interact with your content or buy your services or products).
In addition, Instagram has already informed that it will soon do a cleaning of fake followers.
